James Yamada, Jr., Chief Executive Officer
Known as "Jr," James Yamada joined his father James Yamada, Sr., at A-1 in 1963, five years after the business was formed, He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and has served two terms as President of the Electrical Contracting Association in 1981 and 1991. Although he turned over the reign of presidency to his son in 2007, as CEO he continues to work closely with his teams and maintains close relationships with the General Contractors. Jr truly believes that his employees are the backbone of A-1 and his people are his greatest assets. He promotes and encourages the concept of "agape," (unconditional love) and embraces it as his leadership style.


Jason Yamada, President
As the son of the CEO, Jason has been introduced to the construction industry in his early teens. He received "on the job training" in all aspects of the business. He worked as an electrician, a field foreman, and is involved with project management, project engineering, estimating, and the bidding and negotiation of new jobs. He obtained a BS degree in Business Administration and in 2007, at the age of 31, became president of A-l. A man of honor, integrity and genuine love for his employees, Jason believes that A-1 has the greatest work force.



Sharon Ishii, Senior Vice President/Administration
Sharon received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics/Human Development and continued her education to obtain a Masters in Social Work at the University of Hawaii. She has been with A-1 for over 35 years and has learned various areas of the business. Her strong interpersonal skills, compassionate nature and love for people, equips her to oversee the administrative duties and human resources for A-1 A-Lectrician.




Carl Matsubara, Vice President/A-l Outer Island/General Foreman
Carl, a great asset to A-l since joining us in 1998, has brought with him 26 years of previous experience in the construction industry. He has tremendous experience as an electrician, working on various projects in all areas of electrical work. One project that he coordinated had a contract value in excess of $27 million. Carl is an outstanding leader with a great heart for his people.





Brian Yamada, Vice President/Field Operations/General Foreman
Brian has had "hands on" experience in the electrical industry while he was going to high school and has become a full-fledged worker since 1980. With numerous years as an electrician, he now oversees the field operations for the island of Oahu. His duties include, but are not limited to, manpower, safety, electrical codes, tools, equipment and other job related items. His attention to detail, drive, and concern for his workers makes him a valuable asset to A-1.




Lisa Mitchell, Controller/Chief Financial Officer/ Vice President/Finances
Lisa received her Bachelor in Business Administration/Accounting at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. In 1989, Lisa joined A-l as a part time college intern. Her passion, drive and strong work ethic makes her an outstanding employee. She handles all financial, accounting and insurance matters for A-l and her integrity and honor is second to none.





Dan Menda, Vice President/Estimating
Dan is a graduate of Sacramento City College with an Associate of Science in Mechanical Electrical Technology. He joined A-1 in 1993 and brought with him 16 years of experience working for an electrical engineering firm, an electrical distributor and an electrical contractor. Dan is responsible for managing estimates during all phases of design. His knowledge, fortitude, and loyalty allows him the skills and character to oversee our Estimating team.




John Razonable, Vice President/Project Management
"Raz" joined A-l in 2001. His past experiences include being the former President/CEO of the Electrical Contractors of CA and former President of SASCO Group. His experience in construction management, electrical design and estimating is an asset to A-1. His proactive management style and open communication clearly portrays his commitment to excellence.





Jon Suzawa, Vice President/Project Management
Jon is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Jon worked as a project manager for a general contractor for five years prior to joining A-1 A-Lectrician. He has been with A-1 since 1993 and has worked on residential, industrial, commercial and renovation projects. His passion, tenacity, and his ability to problem solve brings value to his projects and his team.




Leslie Saito, Vice President Engineering/Pre-Construction Services
An electrical engineering graduate of the University of Hawaii, Les worked in the electrical consulting field designing various electrical systems for 10 years prior to joining A-1 A-Lectrician in 1993. He is involved with all aspects of a project from the early design/pricing stage, through start-up and pre-planning design, temporary power, construction and final completion., His design experience is also utilized in the area of design build projects. A tireless, committed and detail oriented worker, Les brings much value, insight, and support to A-1's project management and estimating teams.
